Zanyari is carried by Jiyan and Ala, a 100% Kurdperwer couple, from Markaz and Duhok. Our passion: Kurdistan.

Why Zanyari

Secrets of Kurdistan and of the world, within everyone's reach.

Zanyari means knowledge in Kurdish. The project has two linked ambitions:

• Kurdish cultural and historical reclamation: give Kurds, wherever they live, a place to find their history, figures, places, stories, struggles, and language. Unfiltered, in five languages including Kurmancî and Soranî.
• Extended general culture: because learning about the world is part of transmission. General anecdotes (science, world history, distant cultures) sit alongside Kurdish ones in the same feed.

Long-term goal: Zanyari becomes the mobile Kurdish cultural reference, and beyond that, a living five-language Kurdish encyclopedia.

Our editorial stance

We write from an assumed angle: Kurdperwer, Kurdistani, pan-Kurdish. Kurdistan is treated as one unified entity, not carved up along imposed borders. Kurdish place names take priority (Amed, Colemêrg, Hewlêr, Mahabad). Episodes erased or minimized by other narratives, Dersim, Anfal, Halabja, Mahabad, Sheikh Said, are named for what they are.

This is not a neutral stance. It's our point of view: a people telling its own story.

Our commitment

• No ads in the app. Ever.
• Take part as you can. A Supporter subscription is in place, giving access to Premium anecdotes, the Quiz and the polls, to back our initiative and allow us to work on other projects for the Kurdish people. Developing an app, researching and writing anecdotes, maintaining and feeding it costs a lot of money and time. Subscribing means helping us always offer more and better.
• No extraction. No personal data resold, no third-party trackers in the app, GDPR-compliant.
• No diluting neutrality. If you're looking for an encyclopedia that presents Kurds from Ankara or from Tehran, this isn't the place.
